TWD: Dimply Peach Cake

Maybe my peaches weren't ripe enough. Or, maybe it was the word "dimply" in the title and the fear that eating this cake would bring more dimples to my thighs. Whatever the reason, this week's Tuesdays with Dorie was not a big hit. It sat for two days, virtually untouched by anyone at my house and in the office. Only one piece was missing...and that was the one I had.

Nonetheless, I would like to thank Michelle of Bake-En for hosting this week's TWD. I chose to go with peaches because the grocery store didn't have any fresh cherries and Jeff doesn't like plums (the actual name of this is Dimply Plum Cake). I also added lemon zest to the brown sugar-based batter.

To see more successful attempts at this, visit the TWD blogroll. Check back next week when we make Creme Brulee.

  1. Good idea with the peaches, I think it would taste better than the plums.

  4. Oh, how sad that no one but you even gave it a chance. Your pictures look lovely, though. I made it with cherries that were fresh before I tossed them in the freezer and I added lime zest. We really enjoyed it.

  5. Well, it looks beautiful -- all peachy . . . and dimply. Even though this was presented as a summer fruit dessert, somehow I see it working better with "fall" fruits like apples and pears. I used plums, but would try something else next time. Oh well, on to next week!

  6. oh....that sucks. but i do love the peach idea! i'll bet you could've sprinkled a little brown sugar on top of the peaches and it would've caramelized just a little. and i totally love the peach ring idea, with little bits of cake coming through the holes.

  9. What is wrong with your colleagues, it looks so pretty! I read that this cake wasn't a hit with many of the TWD crowd too. Pity. I was hoping to give it a go. I made a Plum Torte recently, adapting Oangette's, and it was really good.
